For parents teaching at home and over the school holidays we have lots of new ideas and techniques for encouraging and supporting handwriting. A sensory and play-based approach is enjoyable and enables children to develop the skills, strength and focus that will help their handwriting. These techniques are aimed at younger children (age 4–6) but are also suitable for older children who may have become disengaged from handwriting.
We have a new free resource for teachers: Handwriting Teaching in a Nutshell. This handy summary covers teaching from the very beginnings of forming letter shapes to joining and then refining handwriting for older children.
