WriteWell handwriting programme
To help every child achieve clear, confident and speedy joined handwriting, Schofield & Sims has created WriteWell, a course of eleven pupil books and accompanying teacher’s handbook. The collection of resources provides a consistent basis for teaching and learning this complex skill across all primary school year groups, while also supporting the statutory handwriting requirements.
The WriteWell programme guides children through a series of modules based on the National Handwriting Association’s eight ‘S Factors for Success’, helping children take their first steps in mark-making before progressing towards the development of clear, confident and speedy joined handwriting.
WriteWell pupil books
The WriteWell pupil books provide carefully structured progression and a consistent approach to learning across all four developmental Stages. Each book contains:
- 15 units that include a child-friendly introduction and at least one longer WriteWell challenge task
- focused practice activities that gradually increase in difficulty
- activities that encourage children to use handwriting in a realistic context.
WriteWell teacher’s handbook
The accompanying teacher’s handbook provides in-depth support and teacher’s notes, giving guidance on the key issues at each level of development, as well as comprehensive letter formation and joining charts, and assessment and intervention resources.
Free online resources and letter animations
Animations for every letter, number and join are available for free on the Schofield & Sims website, showing the correct formations to help teachers, parents and carers demonstrate each handwriting focus confidently.
