Session 1: Supporting Handwriting in Schools

Areas of research interest include leadership, innovation, economic evaluation and childhood participation. Melanie has conducted a research study using action research methodology to introduce participation-focussed interventions to clinical practice. Clinically, she has particular interests in evidenced-based service-delivery models, capacity building interventions and outcome measurement for children and young people with neurodisabilities. Melanie is the co-founder and Chair of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists Specialist Section for Children, Young People and Families’ Clinical Forum on School-Based Occupational Therapy.
Dr Debbie Kramer-Roy is a Paediatric Occupational Therapist with many years of clinical experience working with children with handwriting difficulties and teaching both OTs and teachers how to support these children in their practice. Session 2: ‘Bring & Share’
Facilitated discussion sessions where members share examples of their practice from their schools & clinics. These sessions will use the model from Session 1 as a framework for discussion. Members should expect to pick up ideas for implementing policies and interventions across the whole school, in smaller groups and on an individual 1:1 basis.
Session 3: What Members need from the NHA in the Digital Age
We will use technology to capture the views of our members on the role of the NHA in the digital age. We would like to find out what members need and want to know so we can tailor our provision of support and resources moving forward.
